Dr. Sreedhara HG served as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Kannada for a period of 36 years in Vivekananda College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Puttur. During his long tenure of professional service, he held positions in various capacities, including as the Co-ordinator of the IQAC in the college.
He holds the distinction of being a Research Guide in Kannada University Hampi under Dr. Ha.Ma.Na. Research Centre situated in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College (Autonomous) Ujire. He has worked as a member of the Kannada Research Board in Mangalore University. Also, he was the President of the UG Examinations Board in Kannur University, Kerala. He has authored textbooks for Kannada Language and Literature papers for UG classes.
Having done his research work on the topic ‘Praacheena Kannada Sahithyadalli Yuddhakale’ under the guidance of Dr. TV Venkataachala Shastri and obtained his doctorate from the University of Mysore. Dr. Sreedhara HG involves himself in writing and publishing research articles, critical essays, memoirs and novels.
More than 50 research articles of his have been published at present. He has been an invited Resource Person in several state and national workshops, seminars and conferences. He has made noteworthy contributions to Kannada Literature by bringing out more than 10 full-fledged research works, and has edited more than 15 research works. Also, he has brought out two novels Prasthaana and Chapada, and a drama titled Shikhandi.
He has been conferred with the state level ‘Chadaga’ award for the novel Prasthaana in the year 2022; and the Mallepuram Sahithya Prashasti (2021) and Vasudha Bhoopaalam award by the Kannada Sahithya Parishad (2022) for the novel Chapada.
Dr. Sreedhara HG attained his superannuation on 31 July 2023, and currently holds full-time office as the Controller of Examinations in Vivekananda College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous), Puttur.
The College is located in the outskirts of Puttur town beside Mysore – Mangalore State Highway, spread over a sprawling campus of nearly 50 acres dotted with green vegetation.
