The Department of Commerce was established in 1966 and offers 3 years B.Com programme (Bachelor of Commerce). B.Com  is a UGC-recognized undergraduate degree having diverse career options in the fields of Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Banking, Human Resource, Management, Marketing and Insurance making it a popular choice for Commerce students after class 12.

The B.Com programme structure encompassing Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Direct Tax, GST and Customs Duty, Financial Management, Human  Resource Management, Management Principles and Application, Principles of Marketing, Banking Law and Practice, Business Statistics and Mathematics, Corporate Law, Business Law  and  Learner centred academic activities like workshop, seminar, training, orientation, guest talk, fest, student seminar, student minor research project, field study, industrial visit, internship program, offline and online certificate courses, debate, group discussion, quiz, case analysis, role plays, outreach and extension program, etc. lead to focused learning to reach the career destinations.

Established in 1966, the Department of Commerce has been the pioneer in imparting skill oriented and value based commerce education  over five and half decades. The legacy of strong founding stones and super structure build up by all retired professors- Prof. M.Suryanarayana Appa, Prof A.V  Narayan, Prof. G.T Bhat, Prof. Vedavyas, Prof. M U Prabhakar, Prof. Parameshwara Bhat, Prof. Anand  and Prof. Venkataramana Bhat paved a way for preparing students for socially desirable and personally fruitful careers.Currently, the Commerce Department boasts a robust community with over 700 students, supported by a team of 12 faculty members. The Commerce Association, an integral wing of Commerce Department, serves as a dynamic platform for students to develop their personality to reach career destiny.
