The Department of Electronics was introduced as an optional subject for B.Sc course in this college during the academic year 1990-91 by the former Principal Prof.M.Suryanarayanappa and was attached to the Physics Department. The Department was led by Prof D.S.Bhat, who was the HOD of physics till 1993 and was promoted as Principal. After him the Department was led by Prof. P. R. Karanth till 2002. Later the Department was headed by Dr. K. Suryanaraya. Presently the Department is headed by Ms.Suprabha and other staff members such as Ms.Ashwini, Ms.Shwetha K, Ms.Savitha, Mr. Sathyajith Upadhyaya, Ms.Krithi, Ms Shwetha, Ms. Deeksha, and Ms. Swarnalakshmialso served the Department.

Since inception, the Department has been engaged in imparting quality education with strong base in electronics fundamentals along with the moral values.

Various Webinars and guest lectures are organized to keep the students updated on the latest developments in the field of Electronics.  Workshops are organized to provide hands on experience and the students are encouraged to do project works to cultivate innovative practices in them. Further, to improve their communication and presentation skills, the students are encouraged to take up seminars.
