Department of HINDI was started along with the establishment of Vivekananda College of Arts, Science and Commerce in 1965.Courses offered here are BA, B.Sc, B Com, BBA & BCA. Hindi is taught as Second Language in the First and Second year of all the above Courses and students in good number are studying Hindi language since 1965.Hindi Dept. is dynamic and engages students to enhance their language skill and literature knowledge by conducting various activities. We have a Wall Magazine named ‘Darpan’ through which guidance and suggestions are given to students to write stories, poems and articles in Hindi.With the guidance of teachers, Students give hindi programmes in Radio Panchajanya 90.8 MHz, community Radio in the College campus.We conduct Hindi classes at Vivekananda ‘Yashas’ Centre for IAS Coaching.We conduct National Level E-Quiz (online) on Hindi Language and Literature.
Hindi association was established in 1993. To encourage the students and to enhance their interest towards Hindi language and literature, Hindi Department and Hindi Association jointly conduct various programmes like guest lectures, seminars and competitions. Special programmes such as Hindi Day Celebration, Hindi Project work, Hindi Typing Certificate Course etc have also been conducted.On account of Hindi Day,various cultural competitions such as recitation of Kabeer Dohe,Soordas Pada, Meera Pada,Elocution and Hindi Quiz etc were conducted. Hanuman Chaleesa Patan Sapthaah, a unique programme has been organised for the last 8 years to impart Indian culture to the students through literary texts. Students participate and receive prizes in University Level Hindi Competitions conducted by neighbouring colleges , MRPL Mlore etc.
