DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE

The real spirit of Democracy always rests in the hands of people. In order to internalize the real spirit of Democracy among the youngsters, they have to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge to the students. The Department of Political Science was started in the year 1965. Political Science as one of the major subjects which has been designed to train the students in the skills and disciplinary insights to articulate, critically examine, assess and explain the concerns of political spheres through the wide range of disciplinary, interdisciplinary modules and themes. The course provides good foundation for students who can take forward their learned skills and knowledge for higher research in the discipline and its associated spheres.

To develop critical thinking skills
To prepare the students for a variety of careers such as law, bureaucracy, education, politics, and policy.

History:

The staff members who presently associate themselves with the department are also making every effort to improve their knowledge skills and efficiency through research work, attending seminars, workshops, and departmental extension activities.

Unique Feature:

The Political Science Department has not confined its activities within the four walls of the classroom. Over the years it has diversified its activities beyond the classroom teachings. By conducting the exclusive seminars for the students, they are encouraged to come forward for public speaking.
Most of the students who join the department come from rural backgrounds with a poor percentage of marks, but they are also shaped not only to score high percentage marks but also to achieve all-round development while leaving the college.
