To meet the demands of the students of this region, the management of the college decided to establish Sociology is an additional optional subject to B.A Students along with the Political Science, Kannada and English. Now recently a new combination started that is JEK.

In the beginning, there was heavy rush to this optional subject and admissions were made to the optimum capacity. The first batch of students opting for this subject had 100% success in the Examinations with securing Distinction and First class and Second Class.

The students take more interest on Debates, Seminars Guest Lecturing and Extension Programmes such as Training for pre-school teachers and Programme in old age homes

The department, with the intention of developing the personality of students, arranged simple social surveys. In this regard, students themselves prepare questionnaire and collect the relevant data under the guidance of department.

History of the Department: The Sociology department is established in the academic year      2000-01 with one teaching staff. When the students reached to final year the management appoints one more staff.

Departmental infrastructural facilities :

a ) Library

The department is located in a spacious room. It has departmental library  having 146 books.

Central library of the institution has 280 numbers of books, 01 of journals related to Sociology. 

The students of the department are making use of computer lab & browsing centre of the institution. 

b)  Laboratories

  The Department has a SOCIOLOGY laboratory. It has maintained various study materials, question paper, photos, CD player, paper cutting to imparting practical and sensitive knowledge to the syllabus as well as society.

c)   Internet facilities for Staff & Students

        It is equipped with computer with internet facility.

d)  Class rooms with ICT facility

The common ICT room of the institution is used by the department for ICT based teaching.
